Hello Cappella members and families

President Jeff Walker announced previously that Cappella was undertaking a periodic Newsletter. I have been tapped as editor and this is the first edition. We expect to develop as we go along — you will see the format and content of this Newsletter evolve. In the long run, you should be able to count on its appearance in your email inbox on a regular schedule.

We mean to share all Cappella news and ideas with all Cappella participants — that is, we want the Chamber folks to know what’s going on with Trebles, Cor Capriccio, Cor Cantabile, and summer camps and vice versa. But also, we want to engage readers with related news and interesting takes on the repertoire and on various forms of involvement — in other words, all things Cappella! Coming soon, we have a Chamber member's own research on the material in its upcoming concert. Another Chamber member has contributed a piece on her experience of meeting new Chamber members. We'd love to hear from our younger members and their parents. What's the best thing about singing with the Trebles? What do you think about the music you are rehearsing now? Interesting photos? From individual comments to long essays, we'd like to see it all.

This Newsletter is meant to be shared with Cappella members and families, of course, but also with friends and anyone who might be interested in what Cappella does or in attending a concert or program. So, along with this Newsletter progress report, we bring to you the following three important announcements. (Members will continue to get critical need-to-know announcements from the usual sources.)

Best wishes to all,
Marty Reilingh, Newsletter Editor, Chamber Bass

Cappella Festiva Treble Choir to Perform with Hudson Valley Philharmonic, Vassar College Choir, and Estelle Parsons at the Bardavon

Join us on April 16, 2016 at the Bardavon when the Cappella Festiva Treble Choir sings as part of the choir with the Hudson Valley Philharmonic in Leonard Bernstein’s Symphony #3, also called Kaddish, and described in Bardavon advertising as: “Leonard Bernstein’s epic, monumental work for large orchestra, choir, soprano, and narrated by Academy Award winning, 5-time Tony nominee Estelle Parsons.

This is a wonderful opportunity for the Treble Choir to work with this fine orchestra and their conductor, Maestro Randall Craig Fleischer.
