The Cappella Festiva Treble Choir Summer Choral Festival is designed to uniquely educate and enrich motivated young singers by providing opportunity for study and singing of diverse treble choral repertoire under the leadership of experienced teachers. In this safe, enriching, and non-competitive environment, peers of varied ages collaborate as well as encourage and mentor.
A typical day at the Festival includes an exciting selection of activities including:
Yoga - Crafts - Music Theory - Swimming -
Choral rehearsals - Games - Sports
Cor Cantabile: is our program for unchanged voices, who have completed grade 6 and have had experience in a choral ensemble singing in 2-3 parts.
This is an exciting opportunity for treble singers to work at an accelerated pace on intermediate/advanced treble choral repertoire, as well as to attend classes in music theory, sight reading, and vocal skills. Auxiliary sessions in yoga, dance, swimming, fitness and crafts augment each day. Access to the Vassar Art Museum, Greenhouses, Library, gardens and hiking round out the experience! An important element of the Cappella Festiva Treble Choir mission, the fostering of peer leadership and mentorship, will also be explored as these seasoned singers collaborate with their younger counterparts.
Cor Capriccio: is atreble singing experience geared for singers age 8-11 who have completed grade 3!
These younger singers will participate in their own energetic choral rehearsals, basic theory and sight reading! Swimming, yoga, crafts and outdoor games augment the daily schedule. Work and sing alongside our more experienced Cor Cantabile singers toward collaboration in our final concert on the last day!
The Cappella Festiva Treble Choir Summer Choral Festival Concert!
On the final afternoon, each of the two vocal ensembles will present its own short program and then, in keeping with our mission of bringing wide age ranges together for musical growth, both choirs will combine for celebratory selections to end the summer festival concert in musical grandeur! We will close with our "BYO" family
picnic supper on the lawn!
Festival Fees:
Tuition includes all instruction, materials, registration fees,
lunch, snacks, water bottle and festival t-shirt. Program
hours: 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
Early registration discount: For all registration forms
and deposits postmarked by April 15, 2011, tuition will
be reduced 10% as described below. All other registration
forms and deposits must be postmarked by June 1, 2011.
Financial Assistance: There are a limited number of
scholarships available based on financial need.
