Cappella Festiva Treble Choir

Cappella Festiva seeks an energetic and experienced choral conductor, educator, and collaborator to serve as director of the Cappella Festiva Treble Choir (ages 10-17). The director works collaboratively with the artistic director, staff, and board of directors to develop and implement exciting and diverse programming. This is a part-time position.
 
Cappella Festiva enriches and supports singers, collaborators, and community members through music education and the pursuit of artistic excellence in choral performance. Celebrating 47 years, Cappella Festiva supports three choirs: Cappella Festiva Chamber Choir (adults), Cappella Festiva Treble Choir (ages 10-17), and Cor Capriccio Children’s Choir (ages 7 and up) and a collaborative relationship with the Boys and Girls Club of Poughkeepsie.
 
Responsibilities
  • Serves as the conductor the Cappella Festiva Treble Choir
  • Supervises and leads all rehearsals and concerts for the Treble Choir
  • Facilitates auditions/interviews for new choir members
  • Recruits new singers
  • Develops the musicianship skills of the choir
  • Chooses challenging and diverse repertoire
  • Works with the artistic director to develop programming
  • Selects guest artists and performance opportunities for the choir
  • Contributes program notes and texts and translations for concert programs
  • Offers regular updates on the status of the chorus to the board of directors
  • Participates in reinvigorating/maintaining/planning and teaching the Summer Choral Festival program held at Vassar College
  • Participates in discussions for grant applications
 
Required - Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree in Music with an emphasis in conducting, choral music and/or vocal pedagogy
  • Experience with middle and high school students (ages 10-17)
  • Understanding of choral techniques, vocal pedagogy, and a broad range of choral repertoire for ages 10-17
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with colleagues

Salary - starting at $5000
